MANGAN APPOINTED CHAIR OF FEI COMMITTEE
BRIAN Mangan, from Fermoy in Co. Cork, Ireland, has been appointed to act as Chair of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI)’s Audit and Compliance Committee by the FEI Bureau.
The Chair of this committee automatically sits on the FEI Bureau.
Brian Mangan was elected to the FEI’s Audit and Compliance Committee at last November’s FEI General Assembly in Buenos Aires. The vacancy as Chair of the Committee arises due to the untimely death of the Chair of the Committee Phillip Billington who passed away earlier this year.
The Chairman of Horse Sport Ireland Horse Sport Ireland Joe Walsh said that Brian Mangan’s appointment was ‘a great honour for him personally and for Ireland’
The Chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee reports to the Bureau and the General Assembly of the FEI on financial control and risk management and also provides independent advice to the President and the Bureau on audit and related matters. It is a policy position to ensure the empowerment of FEI headquarters with the commercial and day-to-day management of Horse Sport.
Mangan is a former CEO of Eventing Ireland and was a Director of Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) during its initial set up phase. While at HSI he was a member of its Finance Committee.
In 2007 he became Chairman of HSI’s Eventing High Performance Committee and was part of the selection panel which appointed Ginny Elliot as Ireland’s Eventing High Performance Manager.
He continues in his role as Chair of Horse Sport Ireland Eventing High Performance Committee.
