IRELAND SECURES PLACE IN MEYDAN SERIES FOR 2010
IRELAND'S senior show jumping team took third place today (Friday) in the British Meydan Nations' Cup at Hickstead, England, with series leaders France tying for first place with Germany and forcing a jump-off which Germany won.
Today's points, however, now ensure that Ireland will be a member of the elite Meydan Series for 2010, no matter what score the team achieves at the Dublin Final in two week's time.
Today's team of Cameron Hanley, Shane Sweetnam, Cian O'Connor and Billy Twomey gained six points for Ireland on a particularly difficult course, where only two riders amongst the 40 starters managed a clear round first time out.
