Horse Sport Ireland’s Eventing High Performance Coach Sue Shortt said the team were preparing well and that she was hopeful of a good result.
“The team have worked very hard in recent months with flatwork Coach Sue Smallman and Show Jumping Coach Ian Fearon and they have made great progress. We have talented children and ponies and with a bit of luck we could be in the shake up” she said.
This year the pony eventing and Show Jumping High Performance programmes have operated in tandem with pony High Performance Coach Ian Fearon providing show jumping coaching to the eventers and Sue Smallman providing flatwork training for the Show Jumpers.
Horse Sport Ireland High Performance Co-ordinater Heather Coyle said the link up was working very well.
“With the Championships taking place at the same venue at the same time it makes sense to pool our resources and I have no doubt it will help our performances at the Championships,” she said.
