KENNY WINS SYRACUSE WORLD CUP CLASS
Twenty-one year old Darragh Kenny produced an Irish victory in the Budweiser World Cup competition at Syracuse in New York State tonight (Saturday), with Co. Down's Dermott Lennon finishing in fourth.
Offaly-born Kenny, who is now based in the US and was a former Irish European Championships Young Rider, steered the 13 year-old bay gelding 'Obelix' through the seven-horse jump-off and took the 25,000 US dollar first prize along with valuable World Cup points.
Former World Champion Lennon, who was riding the nine year-old bay gelding 'Hallmark Elite', registered one of just three other double clear rounds in the competition to take fourth place and a prize purse of 10,000 dollars.
