SHOW JUMPING - LANTINUS OUT OF IRISH EURO SQUAD DUE TO INJURY

Horse Sport Ireland this evening (Sunday) confirmed that Denis Lynch and 'Lantinus' will not now be part of the Irish squad due to compete at the European Show Jumping Championships in Windsor, England later this week.

The bay gelding 'Lantinus' was withdrawn from the squad today due to a slight injury which means that under veterinary advice the horse will have to be rested for about four weeks.

Denis Lynch said today: "I am extremely disappointed at this development. We have been building up to these championships all year, but it is in the best interests of the horse that he is rested. I do, however, wish the rest of the team the very best of luck at Windsor this week."

Team Manager Robert Splaine commented: "Losing 'Lantinus' from the European squad is a major blow, as he is one of the most talented horses in the world, and he and Denis were amongst our strongest combinations for the championships."

Horse Sport Ireland will be announcing a replacement for 'Lantinus' on the European Squad shortly.
