Dublin Horse Show

6Aug2009

The Dublin Horse show started yesterday. I spent the morning watching the young horse national classes and the International competitions. The standard here is fantastic and it is a great chance to watch the international riders work their horses. My class (8yr old and over) was on in the evening. After walking the track I was confident but it was a tough track standing at 1m40 and bigger in places. Fortunately 'Kimberlite' jumped a fantastic clear round and joined 13 others in the jump-off where the top eight qualified for the final. The jump-off was fast and when it came to me it looked as if I had to be clear and relatively fast. I tried to do this but knocked the second last fence leaving me in tenth place overall. The second qualifier is on in the main arena tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to this as I have never competed in the main arena. I think I will have to jump a clear round to have a chance of qualifying and I think I have a good chance of doing so.

In general this is a wonderful show to compete at. It is a great opportunity to watch riders such as Beat Mandli, Billy Twomey, Cameron Hanley, Peter Charles and many more top riders.
