SWAIL AND O' CONNOR IN SPANISH PRIZE MONEY

CONOR Swail and Cian O'Connor maintained their successful run of results at the four-star show in La Coruna, Spain.

Malahide-based Swail was once again in the prize money with Glen Leddy's stallion 'Gold Digger', taking the runner-up spot in the afternoon's two-phase competition, with 29 year-old O'Connor not far behind in fourth with Dermot O'Rourke's talented mare 'Baloufina'.

The class was won by France's Julien Epaillard and 'Commissario'.

Ireland Wins Meydan Nations' Cup in Falsterbo, Sweden.

The Irish Show jumping team have won the Meydan Nations Cup of Sweden this afternoon after a dramatic competition in Falsterbo.

SWEDISH NATIONS' CUP CLASH HEADS UP WEEKEND OF IRISH INTERNATIONAL ACTION

With just Hickstead and Dublin to follow, the Irish senior show jumping team will hope to improve their position in the  Meydan Nations' Cup Series when they battle it out with the world's other top ten teams at Falsterbo, Sweden tomorrow (Friday).

Horse Sport Ireland Team Manager Robert Splaine will field Cameron Hanley, Darragh Kerins, Denis Lynch and Capt. David O’Brien for this sixth leg of the Series. Ireland currently lies in seventh place on the Meydan leaderboard.

CHAIRMAN OF IRISH HORSE BOARD STEPS DOWN

FORMER Minister for Agriculture and Food Joe Walsh has stepped down as the Chairman of the Irish Horse Board/Breeding sub-board of Horse Sport Ireland, but he will continue as Chairman of the main board of Horse Sport Ireland, the new Governing Body for the sector.

Spring Along (ISH) and Daisy Dick (GBR) win Barbury Castle CIC3*

Britain’s Daisy Dick and Irish Sport Horse, Spring Along, won the CIC3* at Barbury Castle International Horse Trials last weekend. 
 
Spring Along (ISH) and Daisy Dick (Gbr) were part of the British team that claimed Team Bronze medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
A delighted Daisy said: "I'm annoyed with my time penalty [cross-country] but I know exactly where I lost time – just one too many pulls but it did feel really fast – he was like a rocket!

BREEN VICTOR AT BALLINA STUDBOOK FINAL

AFTER a successful week at Hickstead last month, Tipperary's Trevor Breen came to Ballina Show in Mayo and showed a touch of his Speed Derby magic when he won the 6/7 year Old HSI Studbook Final with Ringwood Construction's bay mare 'Coppindell'.

Despite his best efforts, runner-up Jimmy McCloskey was unable to stop the clock any better than three seconds off Breen's pace with Brian Doherty's 'Ben Mullier' in the seven horse jump-off.

EVENTING-THREE TOP TENS FOR IRELAND AT BARBURY THREE STAR

THE TRANSFORMATION in Ireland's Eventing fortunes continued today (Sunday) at the three-star event in Barbury Castle, England, with three Irish riders finishing in the top ten on Irish- bred horses from a starting field of 120 of the world's best riders.

Seán Walsh made the journey to the Blessington Horse Show last weekend. The show which was held in the impressive Coilóg Equestrian Centre near Newbridge, Co. Kildare attracted large entries and stiff competition.
