MANGAN APPOINTED CHAIR OF FEI COMMITTEE

BRIAN Mangan, from Fermoy in Co. Cork, Ireland, has been appointed to act as Chair of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI)’s Audit and Compliance Committee by the FEI Bureau.
The Chair of this committee automatically sits on the FEI Bureau.

Benjamin and Geisler Take Command At Kentucky Cup Vaulting

 

Lexington, Ky., July 31 - Kenny Geisler and Megan Benjamin, the most successful American vaulters competing today, solidified the Mt. Eden Vaulters' domination of the Kentucky Cup Vaulting today. Geisler, 28, is leading the CVI2* men's division (6.979) at the competition's halfway point, and Benjamin, 21, is leading the CVI2* women's division (7.933).

TAGGART TENTH IN EURO CHAMPIONSHIP FOR CHILDREN ON HORSES

Despite a disappointing Irish showing in the team event, the European Championship for Children on Horses at Moorsele in Belgium saw Ireland's 13 year-old Kelly Taggart from Fermanagh finish 10th individually with 'Illinoise de Cabdula'.

SPLAINE ANNOUNCES TEAM FOR SPANISH NATIONS' CUP

HORSE Sport Ireland Team Manager Robert Splaine has announced his team for the FEI Promotional Nations' Cup at Gijon in Spain at the beginning of August.

Kentucky Horse Shows-Hagyard Challenge Series Standings

Lexington, KY - July 25, 2009 - Kentucky Horse Shows LLC is pleased to announce the current Hagyard Challenge Series standings. The Hagyard Challenge Series is a summer-long series of seven show jumping events at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Offering $215,000 in prize money, the series will award its leading rider with a $50,000 bonus after the final event, held at the Kentucky National Indoor Horse Show in September. 
 

Weekend Round-up of Irish Performances

Irish riders racked up significant gains on the international circuit this weekend, with a third place in The British Nations' Cup at Hickstead pulling the senior show jumping team up to a safe sixth position in the ten-team Meydan FEI Series for 2009.

TAGGART FIFTH IN FIRST CHILDREN'S EUROPEAN QUALIFIER

IRELAND'S Kelly Taggart was fifth in the first qualifying competition for Children on Horses at the European Championships in Moorsele, Belgium today (Friday).

The 13 year-old, riding the French-bred mare 'Illinoise de Cabdula', was over four seconds off the pace of Czech winner Lucie Prikrylova in a field of 73 starters.

GERMANY PIPS FRANCE IN HICKSTEAD THRILLER

Germany pipped France at Hickstead today when, for the fourth time during this thrilling 2009 Meydan FEI Nations Cup™ season, the result was decided in a two-way jump-off against the clock.  And Germany has discovered a new star in 28 year old Janne-Frederike Meyer, who not only completed the single double-clear of the competition but then went one better and clinched a back-to-back victory for her country at the British venue with a third foot-perfect run from the super-careful Cellagon Lambrasco.

IRELAND SECURES PLACE IN MEYDAN SERIES FOR 2010

IRELAND'S senior show jumping team took third place today (Friday) in the British Meydan Nations' Cup at Hickstead, England, with series leaders France tying for first place with Germany and forcing a jump-off which Germany won.

Today's points, however, now ensure that Ireland will be a member of the elite Meydan Series for 2010, no matter what score the team achieves at the Dublin Final in two week's time.
